A–D
- Accumulator (Acca): A single bet combining multiple selections. All selections must win for the bet to pay out. Higher potential returns, but harder to win.
- Asian Handicap: A betting format that eliminates the draw by giving one team a virtual head start or deficit.
- Banker: A selection you're very confident in, often used as the foundation of an accumulator.
- Bookmaker (Bookie): The company or individual that accepts and pays out bets.

- European Handicap: Similar to Asian Handicap but includes a draw option and uses whole-number handicaps.
- Form: A team or player's recent performance history.

- In-Play (Live) Betting: Placing bets on a match while it is in progress.
- Juice (Vig/Overround): The bookmaker's built-in margin that ensures they profit regardless of the outcome.

- Kelly Criterion: A mathematical formula for calculating optimal bet size based on your edge and the available odds.
- Lay Bet: Betting against a selection to win (available on betting exchanges like Betfair).
- Lines: The odds or point spreads set by bookmakers for a given event.
- Moneyline: A straight win/lose bet with no handicap (standard in American sports betting).
- Odds-On: When a selection's odds imply it has greater than 50% chance of winning (e.g., decimal odds below 2.00).
- Outright: A bet on the overall winner of a competition or tournament rather than an individual match.

- Parlay: The American term for an accumulator.

- Value Bet: A bet where you believe the true probability of an outcome is higher than what the bookmaker's odds imply.
